If you’re a refugee in Canada and you’re experiencing a dental emergency, you may be able to receive emergency dental work here at our clinic, at no cost, through Canada’s Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP).

Emergency Dental for Refugees in Scarborough

Qualifying individuals

People who qualify for no-cost emergency dental work under the IFHP include resettled refugees, protected persons in Canada, refugee claimants, victims of human trafficking, and detainees.

Dental emergencies

The IFHP will cover the relief of emergency dental concerns such as oral-facial trauma, significant dental infection, prolonged bleeding of the mouth area, and tooth pain that can’t be managed by over-the-counter medications.

Treatments covered

For qualifying people, IFHP will cover emergency oral exams; X-rays; caries, trauma, and pain control; emergency prescriptions; simple tooth extractions; denture relines; and denture repairs. With preauthorization, IFHP will cover amalgam or composite restoration for severely affected teeth; complicated dental extractions; and complete and partial dentures.
